Not the most luxurious of places ... but excellent value for money! Can't knock it for the price.
Quirky is a good word to describe this 2-star hotel. Many reviewers have been watching channel 4's four in a bed series and hence their reviews have been poorer than poor. Without question, you are stepping back to the 1990s. There is clearly a need to remodel at some point. However, as I'm looking at the glass being half full and not half empty there are many good points, convenient location, very friendly staff, free car parking, free wifi, ensuite bathrooms, good picture on the in-room tv with over 100 channels, excellent G4 mobile coverage, lots of 13 amp sockets around the room. How did we sleep: Fantastic nights sleep! Comfy bed and no external noise. Breakfast from 8 to 10 on a Sunday. Buffet service. Good range of essentials and all tasty. Dining room could do with a little TLC with regards to decoration. The bottom line is this: paying £40 for a double room and £6.50 pp (May '19) for cooked buffet breakfast is fantastic value. Happy to stay again and highly recommended for the budget conscious traveller.
Rooms were a little budget but the bathroom was nice and got a good nights sleep. Staff were so friendly and happy to help
Honestly don't know what anyone was complaining about in some of the reviews for this place. The bathrooms and beds were perfectly clean and comfy and the breakfast room was nice. Decor (e.g. carpets) a bit outdated but what do you expect for such a price! The staff were also nice enough to put the breakfast cereals, toasts and juices out early because we had to leave early for an event. We also checked in reasonably late and they didn't seem to have a problem which was really nice of them. Would stay again if in the area.
Basic and in need of refurbishment. That said...the staff were fantastic. They went out of their way to help. Double room , cooked full English and 24hr staff.... for £40 !
Still in process of refurbishment but we are sure they will get there in the end. Hannah on reception very welcoming nothing was too much trouble. Dinning area although briefly closed looks very inviting & bar area was very nice & relaxing. Would we stay there again the answer is a big yes.
Where do I begin, from the get go I knew this hotel was for me, dirty and cheap. We was one of the lucky ones in the hotel who actually got bedding, there was a bit of a down side due to no shower working but that’s easily fixable as the legend known as IAN In reception said he would get the boys on to it thanks for forgetting to charge us Ian you are the good guy here and me and the boys love ya until next year stay safe and please stay open! The rooms are quite small, the newly refurbished ones are very nice though. All rooms have a TV and tea and coffee making facilities. WiFi coverage isn't great in some areas. Everywhere is kept clean and tidy. All of the staff are fantastic, always cheerful and friendly. Always happy to help. I would like to say a special thank you to the manager, she was very helpful.
